WHO WE ARE

Prior to establishing the O’Day Law Firm PLLC to provide personalized estate planning, I worked extensively as a SurvivorSupport® counselor in the Estate Financial Services Division of Ayco, a Goldman Sachs Company, meeting with clients daily who had recently experienced a close death in the family, usually a spousal death. Every week, I provided legal and financial guidance after a spouse or other loved one died and saw first-hand the legal and financial devastation that a premature disability or death can bring to a family. I guided families as they picked up the pieces of their lives, from probate complications, managing employee benefits, to helping the family develop their own estate plan moving forward. The vast majority of the families I met with had zero previous estate plans in place (because they were young!), or they had plans that were not completed or completely failed in their time of need. Therefore, the result was often family conflict, costs, and additional emotional stress on top of what a family faces when a loved one dies unexpectedly.

I knew that no one ever intends to leave their families and loved ones with the conflict, stress, and costs that arise when someone dies, and I made it my goal to help families avoid the mistakes I had witnessed time and time again. But I also understood that completing an estate plan when you are young, busy, and healthy may seem almost absurd (or at least something to put off until much later). But the worst time to try to complete an estate plan is when you or a loved one is facing a devastating disability or illness.

This is how I decided to build an estate planning practice centered on building heart-centered relationships with busy families. Your initial Life & Legacy session is just the beginning of the communication and relationship, and my goal will always be to develop and deliver an estate plan that will work for you – and most importantly – the people you love. There are no billable hours; everything is a flat fee so there are no surprises, and you will be able to choose a plan that works best for your family and your budget. As a small, boutique law firm, conveniently located in the heart of Davidson, I am easily accessible to answer all of your questions and guide you through the estate planning process. And once your estate plan is signed, this is only the beginning of the relationship; I will review your estate plan with you at least every 3 years (sooner if needed) to ensure the plan continues to reflect your life and legacy goals. These are just some of the ways the O’Day Law Firm is different from other estate planning firms.

My goal is to provide you peace of mind with an estate plan that reflects your values, goals, and wishes for you and your family for years to come.

Growing up in Indianapolis, I graduated magna cum laude from Marian University with a B.S. in Business Administration/Finance. Thereafter, I hopped over to Ohio to attend the University of Dayton School of Law on a full scholarship, graduating in the top 10% of my class. I continued my legal and financial career working as a SurvivorSupport® counselor for the Ayco Company, a Goldman Sachs Company.

In addition to being a licensed to practice law in North Carolina, I also hold my FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses as a Registered Representative, from my work as a SurvivorSupport® counselor guiding clients through financial and legal decisions after the death of a loved one. Putting my business and legal experience to work, I also own and operate with my husband two successful fitness studio franchises in the Lake Norman area.

When not helping families with their estate and legacy planning, you can likely find me on the soccer field sidelines with the most important people in my life: children, Kieran and Delaney, and my husband, Daniel.
